Testosterone - how high can it go for PCOS?From: Anna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 29 Jun 2001 18:38:13 -0500 (CDT)
3 months ago I was diagnosed with PCOS. I've been on 2000mg of Glucophage since then. I've changed my diet (low carbs) and I work out a minimum of 4 days a week. I've been having a variety of weird symptoms, which I posted about earlier. I had some more bloodwork done, and the only thing off was my testosterone level. 3 months ago it was 66, which the lab said was high. Now it's 81. Can the testosterone level continue to increase with treated PCOS? I'm scheduled for a pelvic ultrasound next week to look for ovarian masses and if that's normal we'll look at the adrenal glands. Even with a high testosterone level, I don't have any excess hair, deepening voice, etc. I do have a higher sex drive, but things could be much worse. ;) And the weirdest thing? I only have one ovary. I had the other removed because of horrible endometriosis (the ovary was covered in it). So how is this one ovary spewing out all that testosterone? Any thoughts?
