Re: High Sex DriveFrom: jodi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 29 Jun 2001 08:53:36 -0500 (CDT)
I'm curious... how many of you claiming to have high sex drives also feel that you have high or reasonably normal self esteem? PCOS has NOT given me a sex drive. If anything, it has killed my sex drive. I had much more interest in sex when my symptoms were milder. As the lack of periods and hairiness got worse, I didn't feel very sexual at all. Being overweight didn't help - I was never really really big, but unable to get below, say, 150 at 5'4. I have felt fat and ugly and hairy for a long time, and my sex drive has suffered. For a while, starting on metfornin, my low sex drive dropped even MORE... but recently, with the massive, massive reduction in body hair i have been experiencing/enjoying... and having lost 30 pounds... i suddenly feel MORE sexual than i have in a long time. i am counting the days till i see my boyfriend again... i mean, i was looking forward to seeing him ever since he left in may, but i wasn't thinking much one way or the other about sex. i figured we would have it, becsuse he's a guy and likes to have sex... but i don't really care for sex. well... now i am looking forward to sex!!!!!! i think there might be a lot more at play than JUST testosterone level when it comes to sex drive... god knows with T in the 80's-90's, i had plenty of it... but not much sex drive to speak of. (however, i would feel rather sexual in the 5 minutes or so after shaving my legs and waxing my bikini line and belly... then of course it would grow back and i would feel ugly and chaste again...) - jodi
