Weekly pig-out, or the Trying to Eat Right Blues

So last night, I ate a whole package of sugar wafers. Last week at about this time, I was also having intense FOOD cravings (by which chicken and salad were not about to satisfy...) and ate a whole jar of pickles and 3 apples. Strange combination, I know...

It seems that every 5-7 days or so, my body just starts clammoring for more food than I am giving it. No... not more food. More carbs, since, as I said, more chicken isn't going to cut it. It's carbs I want... And only carbs!!!

I try to eat right... I try to eat mainly protein and small amounts of good carbs... but this happens. It's as if after a week or so, my body just feels pooped and demands more carbs. I pig out on weird stuff, and I'm good for a week again.

I'm wondering... do I need to be stricter about low-carbing? I don't like low-carbing... I feel like I am missing out on one of life's simple pleasures - eating normal food!!! Do I just need to eat more carbs? Perhaps my activity level - I walk/run 35 miles a week, plus whatever walking I do to get to friends' apartments - is too high, and I am expecting too much energy output from too little carbs + met?

I wish my body had a little meter on it somewhere so I would know just what I needed to put in it! This is so frustrating!!!!!!
