the Venus razor

has everyone by now seen the new Venus razor? basically, i guess the makers of the Mach III realised women were using their product, and decided to market it in girly colors (and probably at a higher price!) in a fashion similar to the release of the Gilette Sensor for Women a few years ago. It's a three bladed razor, in case anyone doesn't know.

ANYWHO... :)

i saw a commercial for them the other day. it had a bunch of women in bathing suits sitting on towels and showing off their gorgeous, smooth legs... to the tune of Venus, by Bananarama, I believe...

and all i can think is, darn it, the kind of women who need to go in for a three bladed razor sure as heck don't look like that!!!

i can't help but wonder if the release of such a product is just a sign of how rampant PCOS really is. i mean, i can't see any reason a women with normal leg hair would shell out the extra bucks for a triple bladed razor. these things are EXPENSIVE, in case you didn't know. (i find the disposable three bladed ones to be cheaper, and they are often on salle at my store...) it just seems like schick (pr whoever) got wind of the fact that a lot of hairy, bumpy legged cysters were using their mach III's and capitalised on the fact.

so... i'm tickled at the fact that a sexy name (Venus) and sexy women (smooth legs from crotch to toes, not a trace of bumps or stubble) are being used to promote a product that is probably not going to be used by particularly _conventionally_ sexy women... and oh, i don't mean that insultingly... note the use of conventionally... :)

i would like it a lot better if the ad had a bunch of rashy legged women sitting around saying, wow, i had ten minutes of smooth after using this razor!!!! that's five minutes longer than with a double blade!!!!!!

and... i'm glad that this razor makes it obvious that there are other hairy women out there. :) at least, i think it makes it obvious...
