Re: Adrenal problems with PCOS

I just went back to my doc last week to discuss a bunch of bloodwork that I had done a couple weeks ago. He didn't give me the PCOS diagnosis I was expecting, but instead adrenal hyperplasia. My DHEA was really high and another hormone(can't remember) was too low. He gave me Aygestin, a progesterone pill to induce a period and he said that he was going to put me on a progesterone based birth control pill instead of an estrogen based, I guess since my estrogen level was normal. He also told me that the high DHEA level was the reason the excess hair, weight problem, menstrual problems etc. For 2 weeks I had been low-carbing, trying to lose weight, but not even that helped me lose. The doc told me not to even try to lose until I was on the BCP for about a month and hopefully that would straighten my levels out, and that I should see a considerable difference in weight loss success. He said that my hormones are so messed up right now that they won't let me lose any weight. I pray that this doc is right. It is frustrating and I have been messed up for over 8 years now.
