Actually got a diagnosis within 15 minutesFrom: Jamie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 21 Apr 2000 12:56:01 -0500 (CDT)
I have been reading this board for the past month and went to my first Dr. appt. to find out if I had PCOS. I have suspected it for a while but no one ever took me seriously. I made an appointment to see a new set of Drs and went to see the the Nurse Practioner since I could not see the Dr for 2 months. I was pleasingly surprised when after a 15 minute conversation she started talking about ways I can be treated and the tests that she would perform to get a confirmation that I indeed had PCOS. We then went to the exam room and when she raised my arm to do the breast exam she said she saw reason to subject myself to any more tests. She said that based on my history and the fact that I had 99% of the symptoms she wanted to begin treatment that day. she handed me a packet of Provera and we set an appointment to talk to the dietician about a lo-carb diet. We have not discussed the medications fo rthe facila hair and cosmetic conditions because I told her that I was more concerned about fertility side of it. I just want to tell anyone else that is discourged to keep the faith and keep pushing, you will find someone that believes you, I did.
