Food allergies cover a wide range of outcomes. For example, if I eat popcorn, I get a "hacking" cough and my sinisus swell providing much difficulty breathing. My mother is allergic to potatoes and chicken. Her joints will swell and she will get a severe stomach ache. My father is allergic to shellfish, and he has all sorts of symptoms. I have trouble with acidic foods, so too much in a small time frame results in sore, swollen taste buds and a VERY SORE TONGUE. Your best bet would be to see an allergy specialist. They can actually test for foods. However, they cannot test for allergic reactions to meds. I was given sulfa puffed into the mouth after a tooth extraction when I was about 8 and litterly almost died. I lost about 14 pounds in 2 days. (Remember I was 8). My teeth became loose. (All of them). My gums turned white, and I had puss pockets in my tongue along with 2 HOLES in my tongue! I was too sick to go to the local doctor, so finally my mom carried me to him at night. He immediately gave me several shots and brought me out of it. (I lived in a small, rural community). Hope this lets you know allergies can do A LOT OF DIFFERENT THINGS to the body.
