Hi fellow PCOSers. I was diagnosed with PCOS a little over a month ago. I am 27 and have been going to docs for years to try to figure out what was wrong with me. For all of you who are wondering about Metformin or Glucophage, it really works for me. I did have the nausea and tiredness that some of you are complaining about, but it has all gone away. The way I take Met is 500mg with every meal,(1500mg/day). I take it at the end of the meal, after the food is in my stomach, so I don't feel sick. I am not on a low carb diet, like a lot of you ask about. I was put on a balanced diet recommended by the American Diabetes Association. I eat all the food groups, even the ice cream and candy. I just have to watch how much I eat, and make sure I get the recommended servings of each food group. I do not feel deprived eating this way, so it has been very easy. I was a junk-food-aholic, so I thought it would be hard to change my eating habits. This combination has been very positive for me........I found out that in one month, I have lost 14 pounds! Please be cautious if you start cutting food groups out, especially if you are trying to concieve. A developing fetus needs all the food groups. I do eat a smaller amount of carbs than I used to, and if I eat too many carbs, I get the side effect of diahrrea. But, when I eat balanced meals, and 3 snacks a day, I do fine and I have weight loss to prove it. Good Luck to everyone. If you want to know what I eat, email me at cssalyer@att.net. -Cindy
