For those pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning ttc,

While I was at a diet class at my HMO for women who are diabetic or IR and either ttc or pregnant, they said going on the low-carb variation used to treat women with gestational diabetes will work for women as they are breastfeeding, too. It is about 1800 Cal a day broken up as follows:

breakfast 1 protein serving (about 1 oz) 1/2 milk serving (=7.5 g carb) 1 starch serving (15 g of carb) 1 small fat serving (e.g. a pat of butter)

snack 1 small fruit 1 starch serving

lunch 2 protein servings 2 starches 1 vegetable serving (excluding high stach veggies like potatoes, carrots and peas, which count as starches, this can be any size) 1 small fat serving

snack 1 small fruit 1 serving of milk

dinner 3 proteins 2 starches 1 vegetable 1 small fat serving 1 serving milk

bedtime snack (around 10 pm) 1 serving milk 1 protein 1 starch

drink 8 glasses of water a day and space meals by 2 hours

Hope this was helpful!
