in this situation, the pt came in late on a sunday evening with the hx previously mentioned. the attending physician ordered her to be given brethine - then came in next morning to start pitocin. our nursing theory - md wanted to sleep all nite. in trying to give the benefit of the doubt, we tried to find something in the literature, but couldnt come up with anything specific. i wanted other thoughts. thanks, debi
