subtotal hysterectomy in dificult cervixFrom: amadeu zullino (azullino@clic-in.com.br)Sun Feb 21 06:21:51 1999
Sometimes is very dificult in a hysteretomy remove the cervix (severe endometriosis , pelvic adhesions , high risk of injury urinary bladder , urether , iliac vessels , etc ) . So i ask if it is whorthwhile performe subtotal hysterectomy (abdominal or laparoscopic) + cervix cone , removing scamous colunar junction and endocervix ? I work in BRAZIL and here cervix Ca is not rare . Perhaps withdraw a large part of cervix would be useful to prevent cervix Ca , mainly in poor people . In fact I have performed total hysterectomy but in dificult cervix it is always a hard nut to crack and patient could be damaged . I remain ,

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
