Re: Cervical ectopic pregnancy

I had one experience with a cervical pregnancy in residency. Patient was given serial injections of mtx. We followed the pregnancy with ultrasound and color flow doppler. When the hcg became zero, and the color flow should virtually no flow, we proceeded to D&C. The procedure served to eliminate the remaining tissue. There was barely any blood loss and the patient did very well. Also, had experience with an abdominal pregnancy that was pretreated then operated upon with similar results.

But as I far too often remind my colleagues, always beware the physician with one case.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
