In my country, where medical resources are scarce outside urban areas, and BTL (Bilateral Tibal Ligation) is the need of people, we are used to conducting "camps" for BTL. In my early days, we used to conduct avginal sterilizations, now we have adopted laprascopic route. A camp of about one thousand cases is nothing unusual. Obviously, all patients are not postmenstrual, and usually, they are not be on pill. If the patient is deprived of the chance for surgery, she may not get another opportunity for another six months, and will definitely conceive, if not pregnant today. Even though the incidence of court cases and compensation is negligible, we are not happy to operate on these patients, since we are worried about her being pregnant. What I do in all these cases, is look for a corpus luteum, and try to destroy it. This, perhaps, gives the same effect as giving methotrexate to all those doubtful cases. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
