I would add only 1 thing to Geff's excellent synopsis of the risk:benefit profile of VBAC. Be sure to document your discussion in the office progress notes, and carbon copy them to the labor unit if you may not be the person delivering the patient. I have had an HMO take me to task for performing an "unindicated" repeat c/section (despite a c/section rate of 16% and this particular patient's refusal of a trial of labor). When I showed them the progress note detailing the discussion, they did not pursue things further.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
