The ARDMS recommends at least 800 exams before setting for their exams, but that is another issue. For the AIUM Lab Accreditation information I refer you to the following URL (there are several pages of information, contacts, etc.): http://www.well.com/user/aium/Accreditation/obaccred.html Here is a excerpt from that page: "Training Requirements AIUM Accreditation requires that physicians meet the 1993 established Training Guidelines for Physicians Who Evaluate and Interpret Diagnostic Ultrasound. In addition each physician on staff is required to perform the following number of ultrasound procedures at each practice per year: Obstetrical/ Gynecological: 170* Abdominal/General: 300* Vascular : 300* * For those Physicians who do not meet the minimum volume of ultrasound procedures listed above, please call the AIUM. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
