there may be a cheaper alternative. Perhaps you should consider contacting Myriad Genetics, the folks who originally sequenced the BRCA 1 gene. I would certainly defer to them but apparently, there are four common mutations aomong those of Askenazi descent and looking for those mutations would be considerably cheaper. Regardless, these folks definitely should be offered genetic counselling for this incredibly complex situation.
