Re: A Proposal for the Dissolution of the Specialty of Obstetrics andFrom: Arthurfree@aol.comSun Jun 29 11:22:34 1997
In a message dated 97-06-29 12:08:36 EDT, you write: << Ask the general surgeons how much they like doing C/S. Sometimes I think we do these things because no one else wants to. >> Places I've been where the general surgeons do csections it tends to be the timing (i.e. not elective) and the percieved increased liability they don't like. They seemed just fine with the procedure itself and the remuneration ;-) Interestingly, Geoff's spoof didn't mention the role of FP's in his brave new world other than as outpatient providers. In communities of less than about 15,000 population FP's are, as a rule, the entire maternity care system. There's not enough OB in such places for anyone to make a living by "carving out" maternity care by itself. Arthur Freeland Warrensburg Missouri

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
