unfortunately, with managed care, not all patients have the option to simply move on; furthermore, many don't move on, they just drop out.

i agree that in retrospect extra effort with some patients may appear to have been wasted, but i'm not very good at predicting that in advance.

one of the things that keeps me excited about this profession is learning to like people whose culture/values/personality initially turn me off.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
