The fact that stays have been vastly reduced without harming outcomes over the last 10 years is ample evidence that you (we) were not at all efficient in our use of resources. We have only ourselves to blame. We aren't allowed to do medically necessary procedures. Of course you are. You just don't have the final say in whether the insurer will agree that something was medically necessary and therefroe pay for it. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
