About two weeks ago I had a patient in who claimed that her labia
majora (her words) were too large and they were embarrasing her and
interfering with her sex life. I have seen a similar request before when
in residency. Once the attending refused sayin it would do more harm than
good and that the pain and scaring from the surgery could cause permanent
problems for intercourse. The other time the attending consented and the
lady had her surgery done. I know that the second lady was not happy with
her result, and since then I have taken the first approach. Does anyone
else have experience in this area?
