perceptions of "old"

In response to the many negative comments on the elderly new mother:

Most teenagers already believe their parents are >75 years old (even if they are not). So an elderly parent appearing at the graduation ceremony couldn't add to that psychic trauma!!

Many grandparents are ALREADY raising their children's babies because the mom and dad are INCAPABLE of being parents (drugs, immaturity, etc).

>Sure do! Why is the age limit 55? What this means is that junior is
bringing a 73 year old mom to his/her high school graduation, if in fact she lives that long. Does anyone else see this as selfish and cruel? As I heard on NPR today, "Is it right for us to be allowing the creation of a generation of orphans?" There needs to be more regulation in this area.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
