I would agree with Dr. Wooley. There is no tenet of medicine which says that we as physicians know everything about everything. We do not have the right to make the final decisions for our patients, just the obligation to advise them of the medical risks and consequences of their actions. (At least in my opinion). I was personally involved once in a case of a Jehovah's witness who refused transfusion and subsequently died. Her husband, who was present and concurred with her refusal at the time, then sued. The case was thrown out of court. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Richard Lowensohn | E-mail: lowensoh@ohsu.edu ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Oregon Health Sciences University | Phone: (503) 494-7968 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ L466, 3181 SW Sam Jackson Park Road | Fax: (503) 494-5729 Portland Oregon 97219-3098 | <your message here>

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
