Re: post amnio miscarriagesFrom: ATB28@aol.comFri Sep 27 08:30:46 1996
In a message dated 96-09-26 21:46:41 EDT, you write: << Greetings. What do you tell your patients when they ask you how an amnio causes the misscarriage? Thanks. Allen. Allen Gardner MD >> A seemingly straightforward question, although we spend considerable time and effort attempting to address the issue to both the patient's satisfaction, and ours...often with little success owing to the over-riding confounding variable of "background losses" (i.e., losses which occur post amnio which are NOT related to the procedure, but would have occurred anyway). I suppose the short answer is, like any other surgical procedure, complications are principally related to hemorrhage and infection...and these of course are influenced by the experience of the surgeon. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
