I had a case earlier this year of a ruptured tubo-ovarian abscess (TOA) with uterine involvement and similar anatomic findings (bladder matted to the uterus). I did exactly what Kevin advised, and it was (apparently) minimally morbid, saved the patient from extra time on the table, and provided a way to locate the ureters. Since the right ureter was involved in the TOA, the ureteral catheters helped with that part of the case. I certainly did not regret it!

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
