A twin with exomphalosFrom: STEWART PRINGLE (100724.2333@CompuServe.COM)Thu Sep 12 16:21:32 1996
I know this sort of case has been discussed from time to time on the list but I'd welcome your thoughts. The mother is about 30, P1 with twins at 16w. At 12w scan no membrane was seen, nor is any visible now so we suspect they are monoamniotic/identical. Now U/S shows a large exomphallos containing livr and part of the stomach of one of the twins but no other definite abnormality. The other twin has tiny bilateral CPC's but nil else structural. 2 samples were taken by amnio as close to each twin as posiible. he full karyotypes are not available but FISH shows no trisomy 21,18 or 13. The current plan is for a repeat detailed scan at our local fetal medicine dept, wait for the full karyotypes and let the parents talk to the paediatric surgeons. Any other ideas?
