Hi Mark, I researched this subject about 4 years ago, and came up with a whole 1 documented case. What I can tell you is that I have been on Interferon since 1990 and now have a 3 1/2 year old daughter. At the time I was on 9 million units/day for CML, and am at present on 6 million units/day. I'm not sure what info you require but can tell you my story and where I got my info if your interested. Debby Collins, Midwife / Mother Bribane Australia

I have a new ob patient in the first trimester with a recent history of wide excision of a malignant melanoma..with a Clark IV degree of invasion. I believe the nodes are negative. the excision occurred a few months ago..about 2-3 to be more accurate.

Does anyone know of articles/studies with regards to interferon use in pregnancy? I suspect dosing issues/ that is the treatment course usually used for malignant melanoma will be different than for local injections for HP V. <her oncologist has a letter in the chart recommending interferon therapy..dated before the positive pregnancy test.>

I would think that stimulating the immune response systemically may increase the risk of pregnancy rejection. I have no idea if that is true or not.

anyone else run into this situation?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
