I personally get somewhat nervous using an arterial constrictor in pregnancy. One could certainly hypothesize spasm and downstream infarction in the fetus (which in most tissues would likely go unnoticed unless massive). I think it's suspected that it is on this basis that cocaine causes it's central nervous system structural damage. However, I'm aware of no, repeat no, data or experience (with pseudoephedrine) to reinforce my paranoia. I'm also not aware of any current "controversy".

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
