But which comes first, the chicken or the egg?

I think a lot of the psychosocial literature on hyperemesis (or even plain old, garden variety nausea and vomiting) fails to consider that unremitting nausea and vomiting is enough to *make* many women depressed, anxious, and not want to be pregnant. I think there is a fairly common ambivalence in many early pregnancies....even those that are planned and wanted. Add hyperemesis, and it is logical to me that those women don't want to be pregnant. I've had women terminate pregnancies because they couldn't stand vomiting all the time.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
