Dear List, More specifically, "The Hand Maids Tale" is a story of what happens to our country (possibly the world....... it is not specific as to what is happening in other countries at the time), when the environment deteriorates (particularly from nuclear fallout) to the point where most women and men are sterile and most babies are born dead or deformed and the government needs (????) to intervene in the childbearing of it's citizens in order to not become extinct. The government has become VERY restrictive and strong because things previously had gotten so out of hand. It seems the government has returned to a Christian oriented, paternalistic regime, complete with public hangings and beatings......shades of The Scarlet Letter. It is a very chilling story and is a very quick read, the movie was very confusing as it couldn't get into the details of what was going on. It is a good reminder of the basic will of humans to be free.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
