RE Mts Bergstom<<<: Judging from several computer related discussion forums I have participated in for the last few years, half of the US techno-intelligentia are libertarian (small l) anti-statist anarcho- capitalists who don't give a damn who will win the upcoming election.<<<

I think you have pegged it truly here! The major difference is that some are more socially liberal than others, but in general I think most of the US population (not just computer users) is "anti-statist anarcho-capitlalists" who don't give a damn who wins the election because we haven't had any decent choices in maybe a generation!

We vote "against the worst guy" and it feels pretty darn lousy. I recently did a coast to coast motor trip and found that folks were equally disgusted with the goverment everywhere.. Wether they called themselves liberal or conservative, republicans or democrats they seemed very dis-satisfied (of course they blamed the problems on different causes).

I think the general American consensus is that the country is rapidlly going to hell in a handbasket and it makes us angry (and breaks our hearts) because we just don't see anyone in politics doing enough to help the situation! We see a gridlocked, top heavy government in lock- step with wealthy special interest groups -- I include botth the "welfare industry" and multi-national corporations here - - while the population becomes economically and socially poorer by the year. ANd more devided. And no, not apathetic; but dejected and discouraged. And disgusted!

So.. to the ititial question "Which party will best help the health care situation"? I have to answer "Neither". They both seem pretty pathetic about it -- I think we'll have to find some other issue upon which to decide our votes.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
