Still, I feel I am fortunate enough to have achieved a moderate degree of success in terms of education and livelihood, and do believe that I should contribute to others in the form of helping (the less fortunate) with education, access to medical care, and training for work. Better to prevent than treat, and that’s how I feel about social assistance. Note I say assistance, no subsistence. But, I do not demand that others do the same. Unfortunately, political parties, Democratic or Republican, are a little too constraining in their beliefs. The problem with the political game is that there is an undercurrent that says that "you have a freedom of choice, as long as you choose our way." I choose a more existential ideal that you can do what you want as long as you don't prevent me from doing what I want. (Obviously, if what you do injures me, than you prevent me my doing, and that is wrong . There is a reasonableness (and naïveté) in this theology.) I tend to favor Clinton or Perot over Dole, because at least they are telling you their poison, rather that hiding it. While once again it is not a vote for someone, but against someone, and I think that a second Clinton term will do less harm than a fourth Reagen term (which is what the Republicans want Dole to be.) The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
