Micronized EstradiolFrom: John Hellriegel (jhellrie@ubmedd.buffalo.edu)Fri Aug 30 00:11:42 1996
R. Daniel Braun said: “Micronized estradiol manufactured in the laboratory is the most pure form of The naturally occurring estrogen known to man. My wife is on it and if I were a woman, I would probably be on it.” I have a few patients who claimed that estradiol did not relieve their symptoms for a full 24 hours -- qd dosing. When I changed them to bid dosing the symptoms were relieved. (For example, 2 mg in the AM was changed to 1 mg in the AM and PM.) I credit this phenomenon to the more rapid metabolism of estradiol compared to the other estrogenic compounds, i.e. Premarin or the esterified estrogens. Have others had this experience?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
