Gerald P. > Rodriguez, MD, FACOG Gerald P. Rodriguez de Santa Fe Gee, talk about opening a can of worms... If you're interested in furthering a Socialistic agenda in the US, vote for the Socialistic Party. They are, quite cleverly, masquerading as the "Democratic" party. Quite an interesting play on words, wouldn't you say? Though it is my fervent belief that all politicians are crooked (otherwise they would have never gotten to the level that we would know their names), I am in the belief that at least the rhetoric of decreasing the intensity of the power of the central socialistic government and returning the spending power to the individual and state is more in my best interest and the best interest of the social structure that made this country what it is today. This wretched march towards socialism, a government model that has been proven over and over and over again throughout the world throughout the ages to be a miserable failure, has me absolutely terrified for me in my later years and my children and grandchildren. There is no question in my mind that the "Democratic" party is pounding the drum of socialism ever louder; I am fearful that the growing throngs of those completely dependent upon the government dole will continue to elect the socialist who promises give-away and support programs... Those determined to contribute and work for a living will pull an even larger wagon with even more riders as socialism thunders on. Eventually, like everywhere else around the globe, the nation will collapse - if this socialistic stampede continues. Oh, don't be mistaken by Clinton's recent signing of the Welfare Reform deal. A very clever and calculated effort to make it look like he wants people to learn to be dependent upon themselves and not his centralized socialistic government. Re-elect Clinton and you will see socialistic implementations that will make your hair stand on end. After all, with no threat of another election, he will truly be able to place into action everything he wants - read SOCIALISM. I know of very few major medical organizations (the Texas Medical Association among them) that do not support the Republican ticket - and for very good reason. Sorry, but you asked! I would guess that the vast majority of people who work for a living would prefer less government, lower taxes, less beurocratic involvement and would vote Republican. Whether Dole and other Republicans truly mean what they say or have the ability (or guts) to implement their rhetoric is a completely different story... The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
