Quoting from SECRETS OF A NATURAL MENOPAUSE by Edna Copeland Ryneveld. She talks about seaweed in various places in her book. Here are some excerpts. p. 5 As little as a teaspoon of (powdered) seaweed (kelp, dulse, etc.) a day has been found helpful for gout, arthritic pain, and all sorts of menopausal symptoms. Seaweed is a floating powerhouse of nutrition and a great little hormone balancer. p. 8 (discussing constipation remedies) Kelp [footnote: powdered or granulated kelp contains 459 mg of sodium per tablespoon.] about a teaspoonful (5 grams) of the powdered form daily, or use it as a salt substitute on your food (great on popcorn), or reconsitute dried seaweed and use it in cooking. p. 13 (discussing energy remedies) Kelp or other seaweed will prevent fatigue by nourishing your body and all your glands, including the thyroid and adrenals. Take one teaspoon of kelp granules or the equivalent of one gram. p. 17 (fibroids) ...taken daily, is useful for the prevention and healing of fibroids (cysts, too). About one teaspoon of kelp per day works well and quickly. p. 22 (for thick, lustrous, glossy hair) p. 29 (for osteoporosis) ...another fine source of many vitamins and minerals, including calcium. It does so many things for us, it's a wonder the women of the world aren't flocking to the seashores to graze. p. 32 ...is also beneficial to your skin.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
