Severe PMSFrom: CNMPAT@aol.comSun Aug 18 10:27:56 1996
Has she tried natural progesterone in the form of Pro-gest cream, or actual natural progesterone tablets (100mg bid-qid). Some research supports this use, and we've had women have great relief from PMS symptoms. The theory behind the use, starting mid cycle, is to replenish the low level of progesterone, thereby decreasing the estrogen effects which are more dominant. Source: John Lee: What your Doctor May Not Tell You about Menopause. Also, information available from: Women's International Pharmacy (1-800-279-5708). Lots of other good resources out there. <<<<35 yo G4P2 2022 with a long history of PMS -- worse over the last 5-6 yrs, and has become even more severe over the last 3 mos. Tubal ligation in '90. Conservative management including: several SSRI's, OCP's, diet, exercise, calcium, provers, etc. Are there any other suggestions? Is hyst/BSO an option? I think she's bringing a gun to the next office visit, and she wants a hyst.>> Pat Sonnenstuhl, CNM,ARNP,RH South Sound Women's Center: 2 CNMs and 3 OB/GYNs Olympia, WA cnmpat@aol.com HTTP://home.aol.com/CNMPAT August 18, 1996 8:21 am

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
