The question asked probably cannot be satisfactorily answered unless the physician can practice without malpractice insurance coverage in some setting other than a hospital. Perhaps a birthing center owned by the physician, or a smaller hospital in a rural setting that will allow staff membership without malpractice insurance.

I assure you that small rural hospitals require $3million/$1million insurance just like everyone else, even for CNM's. I'm in a 20 bed hosp.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
