Another option is to move to a less litiginous state with lower overall malpractice premiums. I settled a case in Illinois and they told me they would surcharge me 30% I think for 2 years. I moved out of the state and was required to inform the new carrier of the planned surcharge, but it did not affect my rates in the new state. On the other hand, I have since spoken to the Illinois carrier and if I ever return, they will surcharge me as planned.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
