Glove useFrom: Anna Nickels (102476.2066@CompuServe.COM)Thu Aug 15 11:31:48 1996
Fellow listers: Back in May I asked the OB-Gyn list about sterile vs. non-sterile glove use in L&D settings and promised to summarize the information and report it. I carefully filed all of your responses away and forgot about them until someone brought up the topic on the PNATALRN list. Here is the summary of the responses: total- 21 Always use sterile gloves- 5 Use clean gloves while intact membranes- 8 Use sterile gloves with ruptured membranes- 6 Use sterile gloves on all patients (including office/clinic setting) over 20 weeks- 2 I recognize that there might be crossover in the categories, but this summary reflects the language in the e-mails I received. Thanks for your patience and your responses. My only excuse for the delay is trying to get my firstborn off to college-yuck! The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
