ITP managementFrom: Anna Nickels (102476.2066@CompuServe.COM)Wed Aug 14 12:59:42 1996
Dear fellow listers: Could you provide me with protocols for or references and information about the management of a patient with severe pre-existing ITP. HX- >40yo G?P2, edc early fall with consistent platelets at or below 50k throughout this pregnancy. She has been receiving IgG therapy and corticosteroids for several months. I do not know any more history- I am posting this for a friend without list access. This patient is currently scheduled to deliver at a level 1 hospital and the nursing staff is concerned that they do not have enough information to care for either the mother or the neonate. They would like information regarding what to expect during labor and pp, including information for the anesthesia department. The nursery personnel also need information regarding concommitant conditions to look for in the neonate. I have already provided them with the information I have readily available. However, I thought that I would ask my "web friends" for assistance. Please e-mail me privately at 102476.2066@Compuserve.com TIA for your help. I am interested in points of view from all three lists (PNATALRN, OB-GYN, and NICU-NET). Anna Romig Nickels, RNC, BSN

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
