Dr. Joe wrote: Guess what? A first for me! I gave a deposition today for a medical malpractice case concerning a patient cared for in our hospital. At the end of the deposition, the attorney (Hi, Chuck, if you're reading...) read me one of MY OWN QUOTES FROM THIS LIST. Joe P.

And Dr. Prior responded: >If this is true, I will no longer be sharing ANY clinical information
>with this list until it becomes closed and proper credentials required
>before admission to the list.

First, I'm sure Dr. Joe's comments are true. During my intern year in New Orleans he was considered an outstanding physician and teacher. We have confirmed this repeatedly on this list.

Second, I agree that personal injury lawyers continue to erode the public good with their overzealous pursuit of "winning" at all costs. In most cases they epitomize the concept of Social Darwinism, where winning is the height of personal satisfaction. They are destroying the ability of our country to compete economically, and are hampering good medical practice. This list was established as a forum for those providing care for women to discuss difficult cases and to learn from each other. It is a tragedy that the fear of litigation will drive members of this list away from posting important and educational cases here. "Chuck" and his colleagues should be ashamed that their amorality and lack of real evidence has left them with no recourse but to seek out comments from this list. Shakespeare was right. Thank God that I and my family have been spared the embarassment of having a personal injury lawyer as a relative.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
