Vulval prep in labourFrom: Danny Tucker (73064.3507@compuserve.com)Tue Oct 31 12:12:29 1995
Our labour suite is reviewing its policy with regard to vulvual prep immediately prior to vaginal examinations and also normal delivery. Presently a bacteriostatic solution (Savlon) is used. They are considering a trial comparing this with a dry cotton wool wipe, to look specifically for any effect on perineal or neonatal infection. Has anyone done a local audit of this & what are others using (if anything) at present? Any info would be of help.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
