Re: Diagnostic Challenge at Ben Taub HospitalFrom: DoctorJoe@aol.comMon Oct 30 10:20:37 1995
Geff, Regarding your Mexican lady with apparent hepatitis but negative hepatitis panel: Remember that Hepatitis C testing is antibody testing - she may not have any yet. Remember that Hepatitis E (enteric non-A non-B and non -C hepatitis) has no commercial test. You can get it done through the CDC, but it's a special deal, as far as I know. But it is definitely something to think about in someone who's been out of the country or exposed to someone... It clinically looks like hepatitis A. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
