Dear John: its a pill. Misoprostol is Cytotec, used for many years as a gastric protective agent for treatemtn or prevention of gastritis or ulcers, especially is the presence of NSAIDS. Remember its a trial, and Jerome Dansereua is the PI. The dose is 100-200 micrograms. Its not yet approved for this purpose outside of a trial. In the RCT women get the pill or a dummy gel vs PGE2 vag gel and a dummy pill. I suggest that you contact Jerome for more info but it is early days t know the outcome of the trial. The subject stays around for an hour or so and then goes home. Four hours later if not in labor all above is repeated and this can happen a total of four times. Cheers. Michael

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
