Vaginal lacerationFrom: Gordon M. Goldman (goldmang@medicine.wustl.edu)Thu Oct 26 03:05:50 1995
28 y/o WSF nulligravida w/o previous hx of sexual dysfunction or dyspareunia notes p/coital pain and bleeding with new partner last 3 months. Frequency coitus less than previously as he lives distant from pt. but approx. q2-3 wks. No insertional difficulty. Vault admits two finger vag. exam w/o difficulty or occurrence of lesion on routine pelvic in past. Denies being "kinky" in sexual habits or foreplay. Exam reveals superficial friable circular tear in posterior vault about 2.5 cm. proximal to hymenel remnant. Have used lubricant, Valisone, Estrace and even cauterized w/AgNO3, but lesion continues to recur w/coitus. Suggestions?? Biopsy?? Thanks ,

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
