Re: Deaf Mute OB/GYN Resident ApplicantFrom: Dean G. Huffman (perinatl@slip.net)Fri Oct 13 23:58:09 1995
Personally, I see nothing wrong with interviewing this guy if he applies. I think people are more afraid of their own discomfort about dealing with a person with a physical challenge than they are worried about his making it through the program. He obviously is a smart cookie who is "handicapable". If he's turned down at programs, I hope it is on the basis of true qualifications, not because he is deaf-mute. There are blind physicians, why can't there be deaf-mute ob/gyns?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
