Re: Endometrial BiopsiesFrom: LMCNM@aol.comFri Oct 6 23:01:35 1995
I have to put my two cents in here as one my many irritiations that occur in medicine is the use of instruments that really do hurt and patients are told that it is only a pinch etc. Why don't we start putting a tenaculum on some gentleman's scotum and see if it hurts. You might want to compare it to an Allis Clamp which is far less invasive and creates far less pain. Those two "little holes" that the Tenaculum makes is definately not pleasant. Having also had biopsies myself-- it really does smart. I must admit that it is bearable but it is far from pleasant. So as not to think that I am a wimp I must admit that I birthed my children without anesthesia 8 pounds to 10-7-- in only a short shot-- It is hard to understand-- but we must-- and I have to remind myself periodically, must pay more attention to patients confort. Ofcourse it is sometimes difficult not to stick ones hands into a uterus that is pouring out blood--- even if we know that we are creating pain. :-) Lonnie

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
