Thanks for the NEJM reference.

I know of at least two lady OB/GYNs in the UK who chose this route for themselves with no indication. I guess theirs is a truly informed choice... Will they set a trend, I wonder, and will this ever become a womens' rights issue? I dread.

I heard that 'elective' CS + TL are common in China - does anybody know?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
