Joanne, Glad to have you aboard the USS Paranoia. Hank, have you been referred to the ACOG patient information pamphlet? See the inset about 'keepsake ultrasounds'. (http://www.acog.org/publications/patient_education/bp025.cfm ) Left unsaid is the inference that if there is an adverse outcome, you may be tangentially dragged into litigation for not infoming patient of the ACOG position. As a rule, we do not advertise in our office for any procedure we do not do ourselves or have control over. We have a place like this in town. They are spending big bucks on their own advertising - they don't need me to promote it. I would *guess* that the slippery slope includes - you put a pamphlet out - the for-profit-just-for-fun-baby-album place MISSES a major anomaly or some such and YOU now have the bigger pockets and YOU *should* have known whether they were really qualified and so forth. Paranoid ... but I guess it isn't paranoid when they really ARE out to get you! Joanne

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
