AFI of 37, bilateral hydronephrosis with right ureteral obstruction.

The local midwives really didn't feel comfortable doing this delivery.  Their regs say they need to consult with an MD for poly.  I brought her in for amniotomy with needle.

I've been (ready for flames) been thinking about water birth for a while, since I've been watching a whole host of midwifery 'propaganda' movies recently.  We have a birth tub but no policy.  She got in the tub for labor and with the CDM help we had a water birth.  That situation totally flies in the face of AWHONN standards and protocols.

Transfusion was the only thing I could come up with.  but the liklihood is so low.

Why the objection?  Probably the same reason she objected to fetal monitoring, pit, vit K, eye ointment, etc etc etc.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
