Several years ago, I had a lady walk into my clinic fully dilated with a 32-weeker in vertex presentation. I gave her a shot of terbutaline and helicoptered her to the hospital 32 miles away. I got in my car and drove up, figuring she'd be delivered by the time I got there. When I arrived, they were doing an ULTRASOUND on her! Why the heck would you do an ultrasound? You can tell by vag exam that the kid is vertex, and anything else you want to know about the kid can wait a few more minutes til she delivers and you have the whole kid to look at. Some of us were taught in med school that if the results of a test will not change your plan, you don't do the test. I miss those days.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
